Props and Location

For our film sequence, we shall be filming on location in, and immediately outside of an old, large farm house. Although ideally we would film at night, it will likely cause issues with the picture quality being too dark, especially as part of the sequence will be filmed outdoors, away from any great source of artificial light. As a compromise we will film in the afternoon/early evening, so that we can make use of the natural light available, and edit it to look darker during the editing process if needs be. Whilst filming indoors we shall be using the room lights, so lighting should not be a problem in the slightest.

The opening shot will be of a car after pulling into a driveway, with the driver switching it's engine off. Obviously we will need to have access to a car for this. As the couple who are visiting the house are a young professional couple, but they are visiting late in the evening, we will have them dressed in smart but comfortable clothing. Also they shall be clean and neat in their general appearance. The female of the couple will be wearing make up and have neatly styled hair, the male will also have neatly styled hair. We will obviously need to make use of make-up and hair products to achieve this.

The third character will be a girl who haunts the old house in which the sequence takes place. Using a combination of make-up and hair styling products, such as hair spray, we will make the girl look ghostly, and somewhat disheveled and scruffy. We will be trying to make her as horrific looking as possible, since she is the instigator of the horror in the sequence.
Her presence is always going to be preceded by the tune of a music box during the sequence, therefore we shall need to have a music box available for use when filming. The music box will be used for dramatic irony, the tune shall be childish and innocent sounding, but it will also instill an element of fear in the viewing audience, as it will become a warning of the appearance of the main antagonist.
